This event is run annually in memory of John. It is open to all Adult members, team or non-team. £5 entry per person which will go to John’s favorite Charity – ENABLE. If you are interested in supporting this event please let Ian Hunter or Stephen Newall know at firstname.lastname@example.org There are two quaichs for the winners – one for the best male and one for the best female tennis players on the day. Names will be needed in advance as we wish to try and offer a fair social tennis event and we could handicap players depending on the entry. Can you let us know if you are a team player for your club or a non-team/social member only.
Club Championship Finals 2017 – the weather was kind and tennis was played all day with some very close matches fought out. Congratulations to all our winners and to all those who played in both the junior and adult categories. Many thanks to Marcin for organising the juniors and to Stephen Newall for taking on the adults for the first time – both did a great job. See the Facebook tab for photos and below for some collages of the presentations.
Sunday 20th August – Club BBQ & Social Tennis. Although the weather was good there was unfortunately a lower turnout for this event than was usual but all those who were there played a lot of tennis and were very well fed! Many thanks for Stephen for publicizing the event, Ping for the catering and Paul for the barbeque and cooking.
23rd July Adult Social – Thirty30 Event - although it had rained heavily in previous days it cleared up at lunchtime and we had a large turn out of 16 people and a great afternoon’s social tennis – all in the sunshine! We tried out the Tennis Scotland new scoring set up of starting each game at 30 – 30 and found that it certainly did speed the game up but you had to keep concentrating as it was easy to lose after only 2 serves. Team players liked the way sets got completed and our more social players liked starting closer to winning the game! Some rather distant photos of a good fun afternoon.
Rusties Night – every Wednesday night from 7pm to 9pm is Rusties Night. This is aimed at the Non Team Players and Parents categories of membership for members who wish to play social, rather than team, tennis. The sessions are informal and meant to be good fun. Everyone is welcome and there is no need to book.
Social tennis on a Friday night from 7pm is open to all members and it is hoped that ‘Friday nights’ will become a Club fixture.
Saturday afternoons from 1pm to 3pm has been successful venture over the last couple of years. These sessions continue throughout the year – dependant on the weather – and are open to all, no booking or charge required, just turn up and play and maybe finish with a cup of tea and cake!
